The Canadian refreshment beverage industry has applied all of the 3Rs - reduction, reuse and recycling - in its efforts to cut the amount of beverage-related packaging sent for disposal.
The industry uses a myriad of packaging in the manufacture and distribution of beverages. A large part of this packaging is not readily visible to consumers.
Virtually all of the packaging the beverage industry uses is either reusable or recyclable. Much of the industry's packaging is reused, primarily the packaging associated with the manufacture and distribution of beverages.
The aluminum, boxboard, corrugated cardboard, glass, paper, plastic, steel, wood - virtually all of the packaging used by the industry - is also recyclable, and is recycled whenever possible.
To help understand the refreshment beverage industry's packaging use, we have summarized various types of the most commonly-used packaging below, all of which are recyclable.
